Conference on door to door waste collection in Terrassa

On January 13, held the first meeting of the series of seminars aimed at local authorities in the county of Vallès Occidental.

This conference organized by the Consortium for Waste Management of Vallès Occidental, was attended by Francesc Giro, attached to the direction of the Waste Agency of Catalonia, Carles Salvans, member of the technical commissioner of the Catalan Association of Municipalities to door to door selective waste collection and from the municipal Matadepera and Palau-solità and Plegamans.

The day was attended by forty representatives of the various technical and political municipalities analyzed the door to door waste collection scheme in the composting plant and biomethanisation Can Barba.

The session was opened by the director of the Consortium, Paco Fernandez, and then made the presentation Francesc Giro, with analysis of the different experiences of door to door in Catalonia, as well as the main features of this system . Then Carles Salvans, explained what the goals and tasks performed by the Association and review the characteristics of the door to door collection, analyzing some of the experiences implemented in Catalonia and a comparison of advantages and disadvantages between this system and street container waste collection. Finally, he made a brief and comparative aspects of economic evaluations and a final highlighting the benefits and good results achieved by DtD throughout the Catalan territory.

The day concluded with the exhibition running from door to door collections implemented in the towns of Palau and Solità Plegamans and Matadepera.

The Consortium for Waste Management organized throughout the year different topics proposed for debate and work to improve the efficiency and optimization of municipal waste collection and waste management.
