Argentona, member of the Association, introduces the Fair Tax, a new payment rate of garbage

With the Fair Tax, more equitable Argentona want to pay the garbage fee and, in turn, result in better recycling.

In Argentona, when in 2004 only 15% of waste recycled, the system was implemented door-to-door collection (PAP) of organic waste fractions.

In the next four years, figures from recycling increased to 52%. It was December 2008 when, with a population of 12,000 inhabitants on the line, the selective collection PaP also be extended to fractions and paper and cardboard packaging, so that, in public, there were only -- and keep it current, the
glass collection containers. Since then, a year later, the percentage of selective collection has reached 63%, a figure well above the average Catalan, which is
34%.

However, the homes argentonins making efforts to recycle, do not receive any incentive, because the rate of trash does not offer equal treatment to citizens. In other words, households that produce more waste are the same as that generated few.

Thus, the rate for garbage fairer, the Department of Sustainability Argentona City Council has backed a new payment model, which has shown satisfactory results in European countries where applicable.

This new payment model, which colloquially called Fair Tax, in addition to providing a fairer deal allows achieves much higher levels of recycling and even helps reduce the amount of waste produced.
